Oppenheimer burns hard and fast across the 3hr runtime which flashes by like a thermonuclear reaction. Nolan uses his trademark non-linear storytelling style, throwing dozens of characters at us, the who's who of mid century brainiacs and political leaders played by the whos who of top tier actors, while channeling his inner Malik with impressionistic visuals of atomic structures, fission explosions and close up and mid range full screen shot of actors faces and Florence's pew pews in 70mm IMAX…

Welcome to Lumberton, USA with its clear blue skies, white picket fences and finely manicured gardens. Stop by the locally owned hardware store for a $22 axe even though it's 1984 and that seems expensive. Feeling a bit hungry? Then Arlene's diner is the place for you for a burger and fries or a slice of huckleberry pie. Jeff Bridges grabs his cosmic balls and phones home is this empathetic, warm-hearted, emotional story from the director of, ....checks notes, The Thing, Assault on Precinct 13, Escape from New York, etc. Hey even Lynch has his Straight Story. One of my fav sci-fi drama's to revisit and a Quint-essential in the category of "Between this and Star Trek The Motion Picture, Voyager 1 was sure a pain in the ass".

My Glazer watch week has reached its zenith with The Zone of Interest which follows the domestic life of real-life Nazi/monster Rudolf Höss, who was the commandant of the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp. His upper-middle class family with a house right next to the camp going about the balanities of life willfully ignoring the genocide happening on the other side of the wall - a physical and mental barrier between seemingly normal life and the evil.

    The film is almost…

Paul McCartney coming up with a tune while waiting for John to arrive and it quickly forming into Get Back was the most exhilarating 15 minutes of film I've seen all year.

Had high anxiety waiting 45 minutes for Madeline Kahn to finally show up as the Hitchcock blonde and then proceed to completely steal the show.
