I Saw the Devil

I Saw the Devil

"You've created a monster. How interesting."

A long, bloody game of cat and mouse between a serial killer and a secret agent who enjoys the game a little too much. At times, this film feels like an extended episode of an American police procedural, spiced with Saw-like torture porn (I squirmed quite a bit) and flamboyant fight choreography. But unlike police procedurals, I Saw the Devil isn't too predictable; the final act is particularly good in this regard.

I may have to start doing fan edits, for the purpose of removing cheesy, insistent scores from horror films and therefore making them that much better. First up: the original Poltergeist. Next up: I Saw the Devil. Stay tuned.
