This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

this movie is everything to me and i don’t think i can write a coherent review in any way because the way i really express my admiration for this movie is just through ranting and being insane but here’s what i really love about arrival

i’m the kind of person who’s into darker movies most of the time and my favourite genres are horror / thriller / crime and that’s pretty much defines me. i love it, i can’t…

the texas chain saw massacre is the epitome of 70s horror, the origin of so many tropes and themes that are followed and imitated to this day. its fingerprint is present in almost all horror media.

it is shot in an extremely visceral way from the very beginning, over-saturated colours of sunlight to portray the blinding heat of texas, the abundance of sweat, dirt, grime, overall imperfections that make the settings feel lived in, real and disgusting to create a…

to live is to understand the horror of your own mortality, the finite nature of existence. it is the knowledge that one day, everything is over. there is no escape of that, and the moment you grasp the terror of that idea is the moment you become alive. it’s seeing the life in others, living in vigour and energy and passion and determination and desire. it’s experiencing things that could only be dreamed of. it’s leaving a legacy for others…

such a quiet, introspective movie that completely broke me down while using so little. it was almost as if i was waiting for something terrible to happen, so many opportunities seemed to present themselves, but it never did and yet, it never needed to. life’s melancholy sadness can take over any moment, not just the big and profound ones. i saw myself echoed in this, in some ways, not in others, and i felt consumed by the less of childhood…

i wasn’t sure what to expect from this even after seeing trailers and it really exceeded everything i could have ever thought of. the atmosphere and suspense was amazing throughout, set really well from the start and never letting up, not being boring or underwhelming once. it was also really unpredictable and satisfying to experience the story with almost no prior knowledge

as one of my most anticipated movies this year, i was not disappointed at all <3

“seems like there’s something missing in me that the rest of the world has”

this was the moment that confirmed the adoration i had for this movie, the moment i felt so breathless for being seen in such a fucked up yet genuine way. ti west has felt hit and miss for me a lot but just hearing this made me understand his work on a deep level and gave me so much more respect for his messages and goals.…
