Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Judas and the Black Messiah is an excellent example of an educational film, providing insight into a person and a story many people aren’t aware of. I personally was ignorant to the story of Fred Hampton and the Blank Panthers so I was very excited to learn about it with this movie.

And the best thing I can say about this movie is the performances are electric. Daniel Kaluuya preforms his part with a ferocious tenacity that kept me in the edge of my seat every scene he was in. His words were booming and you could feel everything he wanted you to. Lakeith Stanfield’s performance is quieter but nonetheless as electric.

The movie was very well presented, with impeccable effects. The music was great at points yet took a backseat here and there. My biggest issue with the film is some plot points or subplots felt kind of cheesy, but it didn’t hurt the big picture too much.

Overall, this is a very important film with a story told very well. While it certainly has its plot kinks, I definitely enjoyed it throughout.
