An unrelenting, viciously uncommercial doom-metal inferno of a film, practically daring you to watch as its hero spirals down towards complete annihilation. Not quite on the same level as The Lighthouse for me, but it's impossible for me to hate a film where Willem Dafoe's blind severed head tells someone to fight a buried giant so they can claim possession of a dwarf-forged sword that can only be drawn at night. Easy favorite of the year thus far.
