“I’m gonna dream you into a beautiful dream.”
Yes, I cried during a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. So what? This is a movie worth crying over. Sure, it’s a little silly, but that’s all part of the charm, and the great characters, gorgeous visuals, and legitimate neurodivergent pride all help the surprisingly vicious social commentary go down a lot easier. Besides, I’ll take John Saxon fist-fighting a Ray Harryhausen skeleton over your bog-standard dour indie horror scenario any day of the week. (Also, I really need to re-watch the original, because I remember being kinda nitpicky and impatient with it on the spectacularly idiotic grounds of “I was watching it outside and sprinklers were going off so I got wet during it”.)
