The woodland fantastic. All the scruffy little details, the complexities in the fur and the animal iris, an orchestration of organized set-piece to intricate sequence. This is ultimately the definition of an easy movie to absorb and enjoy, as both smart fun and a work about embracing difference and change. Every time I come back to this movie, I have to remind myself that this is stop-motion and that hundreds of people worked painstakingly for hours upon hours just to produce a couple frames for this. And the fact that it's only a little over 80 minutes is just such a power move. "Heroes and Villains" never gets old, and neither does this.
