Georges Méliès was truly a pioneer of filmmaking in many different avenues, especially in making films that were visual spectacles.
A Trip to the Moon is sometimes regarded as the first science-fiction film, but in my opinion it leans more toward fantasy. The explorers here climb into a large projectile that is then shot at the moon through a very large and long cannon. This film was made in 1902, so don’t you dare expect scientific accuracy.

A mixed bag for sure. I really was excited to see this but it didn’t live up to my expectations.
The mall heist scene near the beginning was 100% flawless. I wish the rest of the film lived up to that scene alone.
The first film was more consistent and overall better. This one was convoluted and uneven.
