Once Upon a Time in the West ★★★★½

I don't give out 4.5 stars frequently, but I could tell within 5 minutes I was in for a hell of a ride. The camera direction (i.e. framing, movement, and shot choices) was almost beautiful enough to distract me from the fantastic scenery, stoically expected yet appropriate acting, and an amazingly masterful, almost leisurely, pace to make the furious scenes of action all the more anticipated and tension-filled. As a special note, I am convinced Ennio Morricone is a genius. My only qualm with this film is that it took me almost 30 years to see it.
