Pete Talbot’s review published on Letterboxd:
I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Much as Chef is a similar story with a different vehicle to tell it as Begin Again, it truly is a fair to compare this to John Wick. No one gets tackled or shot, but it is a revenge story based around a pet that had been harmed where the main character harnesses his dormant skills. Here Nicolas Cage is not a former hitman but a former chef who uses a great memory for food and meals and cutting monologues to seal revenge. I was weary of this because of the "surprise" over Cage's performance, the fact is that he had had a long career where, although there have been some bad movies, he has never stopped being a great all along the way. He really does give an amazing performance and his co-stars are quite good as well.
