Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ★★★½

This is a lot of fun and the animation is seriously as great as everyone's been saying. This is my favorite Spider-Man movie since Raimi's trilogy and probably my favorite animated superhero movie since Mask of the Phantasm, also Spider-Ham and a Biggie Smalls song, but I don't think it's a perfect Spider-Man story. I think Morales' origin story is great and subsequently deserves its own movie, dedicating the attention needed to make it as emotionally compelling as actively exciting. I also feel the same about a multiverse crossover story. The details are faithful to the mythology at hand but maybe overbearingly so, shortchanging some of the most interesting aspects of the story, like Morales' uncle and their relationship. Or, the interplay between the different Spider-People and their individual baggage that's required of wearing the Spider mask. Still, this is a blast and my complaints are mostly pedestrian. More of all of this would be highly welcomed.
