It's crazy how good the best Horror movies are. The genre includes so many poor choices, sequels, and lazy filmmaking, but the best of the best are so great. This is the beginning of Sp00ky Szn for me. Please feel free to leave other recommendations, I have much to watch.

Ideal start to a quality weekend

  • Scream 2

    Scream 2

    ★★★

Kept the same cast and subtracted the originality and charm that initially separated Scream. A few good scenes and kills but just like they said, sequels are just never as good as the original.

More hints at what's to come down the road from the Coen Brothers. Some great camerawork in this over the top comedy. Short and fun, the ending shows they know what they were doing the whole time.

Neo-Noir Denzel and Don Cheadle? The comparisons to LA Confidential are fair. Between this and Deep Cover I'm enjoying these hidden gems lately.

Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung, the greatest lovers in cinema history.

  • Candyman

One of my most anticipated films of the year. Elevated horror is one of the only things rising in today's cinema experience and I think this will be a hit, early numbers are showing that people are going to see this movie. I really liked the first hour of this, Nia Dacosta has a great eye, her direction is top notch, it looks incredible...but the story falls flat. The power of the original Candyman was that it didn't explain everything…

Was that Nicholas Cage?? These movies are so horny, it's actually crazy. Cancel culture has us in a weird spot right now, almost none of this would work. Fun 90 minute ride.

  • Jaws

The art of suspense. This is peak everything. Blockbuster, score, corruption. 4K UHD looks great, been way too long since I've seen this last.
