Daniel Pico’s review published on Letterboxd:
Rian Johnson’s Knives Out is the Introduction Beniot Blanc, the American Hercule Poirot. In what I hope will be Daniel Craig’s first of many appearances as Blanc on the big screen, KO is a tight murder mystery filled with twists and turns and a great deal of laughs. I don’t want to say too much because the less you know about the plot the better. But I just want to say what a brilliant filmmaker Rian Johnson has turned into. I know he got more flack than he deserved for The Last Jedi, as I thought when he was announced as the director of the 8th Star Wars installment, he was an inspired choice. I still believe he turned in a great film, that was largely rejected because it wasn’t the movie the fans had written in thier heads. KO is a return to his early work like Brick, and The Brothers Bloom where he’s free to let characters be weird and funny, but always engaging and interesting.
