Watching movies that I like
Thrilling and gripping, Wife of a Spy by Kiyoshi Kurosawa for me is an anti-melodrama about a couple who struggle to uncover a dirty government secret in the World War II era. Kiyoshi succeeds brings a topic about honesty and trust issues in marriage also the hurting impact of war with some creativity in cinematography like using some motion blur in this film.
Kiyoshi Kurosawa seems really prone to make a film about a family that talking about trust and honesty issues like in his previous film Tokyo Sonata.
Alice: Crack of Season by Chae Gae-Hee is a yearning unrequited love of Yoon-Hye who loves Da-joo so much. Shots and editing are quite good and I really like when the first and the second scene in the playground at night, it feels like testing their connection for each other.
The Day After by Hong Sang-Soo is a tense and realistic black and white film about a love affair between a man who has a wife and his worker. Hong Sang-Soo gives a topic about ego in a lot of men (not all of them btw) to satisfying themself and journey to finding purpose and meaning in life. The cinematography is clean, fits with the mood in this film.
For now, this is the best Hong Sang-soo film for me
36 by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit is full of exploration about life and memory especially love and regret from the perspectives of Sai. Slow cinema type of storytelling combining with non-linear storyline succeeds to maximized by Nawapol to make this film really special like watching Hong Sang-Soo or Lav Diaz film.
