I Saw the Devil

I Saw the Devil ★★★★½

Hoop-Tober 2015: Film 23 of 31

What 'I Saw the Devil' lacks in plot, it more than makes up for in intensity. As others have stated, we have become more and more numb to violence with every mindless violence fest that comes out every week. However, this film's violence was genuinely shocking, as it was reserved, but incredibly realistic and handled without an once of superfluousness.

At its core, 'I Saw the Devil' is an incredibly simple revenge flick, and I feel that it is super effective in its simplicity. While it can be argued that the characters are a bit on the one-dimensional side, the film does ask some pretty big questions, which I really appreciate.
