Peter Boyle’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm not the first person to note the fact, but it's a miracle that The Northman even exists. A $90m historical epic based on an original concept from the director of two of the strangest movies of recent times?! In an era of safe bets from established franchises, it's a complete unicorn.
The film itself is far from perfect - the pacing is uneven and the dialogue doesn't always convince. But it's an immersive, rousing experience that looks terrific. And I'll take a twisted, blood-soaked revenge saga instead of the latest vapid, conveyor-belt superhero flick any day of the week.
