Peter Valerio’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film is a bit of a mess. I can see why people would hate this movie (for parts of this, I was among them).
The visuals were incredible, and the world-building (even though it was a pastiche of a dozen other sci-fi films) was pretty well done.
It seems strange to say, but this film would have benefited from a longer running time (or being split into two or more films). The dialog was so thick with exposition (while at the same time not providing all of the exposition needed) that it sucked the life out of the film. There may be a good story here, but it was difficult to tell.
