Watcher is beautiful and memorable, but falls prey to a disappointing level of Americentricity.
First the pros - Watcher is impeccably shot, replete with lingering wide frames that squeeze Maika Monroe in an uncomfortable middle. Bucharest's locations are stunning, from glamorous baroque and art nouveau apartments and stairways, to drab lines of dilapidated commie blocks. Taken together, this makes Watcher a visual treat.
