This flick is far from perfect but I really f***ing love it.

This is one of the most immersive films I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Perfect tone, perfect editing, perfect cinematography, perfect acting - even though Paul Dano has a tendency to overact in some scenes, I still think he's excellent. But man, Daniel Day-Lewis never ceases to surprise me every time I watch this.
Adding a bonus of touching on multiple themes - religion, power, obsession - while still being subtle all the way through, it really is an outstanding achievement.
With this and 'No Country for Old Men' I think it's safe to say that 2007 was a killer year for movies.
