PeacefulDawn’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film has no right being so good, and yet it somehow manages to expertly fuse the gritty, rotting, drunken world of piracy with the charming cheese of a Disney movie. As someone who grew tired of Jack Sparrow's antics in the later films, it's a relief to discover that Depp's swagger hasn't been tarnished by time after all.
While the franchise grew to be convoluted and outlandishly silly, Black Pearl is a remarkably solid adventure movie, with witty dialogue, an airtight plot, and a hell of a lot of fun.
I give this film a B4+
