I’ll be honest, the first time I watched this movie everything in my mind was set on disliking it. I agreed with (and to an extent still do) the idea that Tessa Thompson didn’t necessarily pass. I’d seen her in enough movies that were in color to imagine that i wouldn’t be able to suspend my disbelief. Boy was I wrong. The performances were stellar but the film still left me a bit lost which I now attribute to a…

When I was younger I used to cry a lot. It wasn’t something I was proud of at the time. I wanted to hold everything in. I know now that there’s nothing wrong with that as it means you’re in touch with your emotions. Regardless of that I still attended to hold everything in even if I’m getting better. Every now and then I watch a movie that feels like it knows me more than I know it. This is one of them. Relentlessly charming, horribly relatable and so sweet my teeth hurt. I really like how this has all hallmarks and motions of a classic rom com but just does something weirder with it. I feel like I’d write a rom com like it.

Super entertaining and kinda surface level in a way that’s expected. The third act does reveal a little depth which makes it all warranted in the end along with a star turn from Mia Isaac. Zoey Deutch is great and Dylan O’Brien is hot. What more could you ask for from a social media satire.

Incredibly well done and poetic. It’s simultaneously inviting and haunting with a tricky tone that constantly teeters between light-hearted and melancholy.Feels like a great way to show how life goes on after traumatic experiences. There’s always an after and there’s always multiple ways to live through it. Jenna Ortega is stellar and the cast all around is pretty excellent. The heaviness of the subject matter is definitely gonna take awhile to sink in for me but I still heavily recommend it. We’re gonna be talking about this one for a while
