Paul Duane’s review published on Letterboxd:
The product of a crude but effective gene splicing experiment between ZOMBIE 2 & CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST I suppose. It’s fun! The ultra slow undead are genuinely creepy as well as mildly ridiculous. The way people just stand there staring while horrific things happen reminds me of Oliver Hardy’s slow burns while a succession of heavy objects fall on his head.
But there’s a cut at the one hour mark from a particularly gnarly zombie head-shot to tropical birds diving into a river that is sublime. And the rat jumping out of the dead old lady’s stomach? I can imagine George Romero going, I wish I’d thought of that. And the guy who keeps running into the middle of the zombies daring them to bite him and doing Rebel yells is, to me, a new kind of zombie movie guy.
