Knives Out ★★★★½

I knew the murder mystery was going to be a red herring just because we've seen this kind of whodunnit many times over the last century, and I got what I expected when the murderer is revealed in the first half hour and it transforms into something kinda like death note and stays there a while. What I wasn't ready for was the film sharply steering back into it's whodunnit roots without warning and revealing that during that political crime drama diversion it had been continuing to plant clues to a much grander second mystery, which is explained in what is basically a gigantic parody of the last scene of Clue. It's the most simultaneously subversive yet conventionally satisfying film i've ever seen maybe? I dunno, it's fuckin mint though.
