C'mon C'mon

C'mon C'mon ★★★★

what an earnestly tender, empathetic film. joaquin phoenix is as strong as you’ve heard, but gaby hoffmann and woody norman, in capturing the tribulations of motherhood and idiosyncrasies of childhood, respectively, deliver fantastic work in their own right. it’s just a shame that it had to follow up 20th Century Women, one of my favorite films of all time, and i couldn’t help but feel just a smidge underwhelmed.
