"In for a penny, in for a pound"
Who killed Mr. Paperinukke? Not the butler or BOB, but Rian Johnson with this film's lackluster ending.
My rating stays at 3.5/5, but seriously, the ending almost nullifies the very entertaining experience of Knives Out. The most crucial part for any whodunnit puzzle, where the audience should GASP and FAINT and SCREAM - or smile smugly and think "I knew it!" - instead of letting out a silent "ok". That's exactly what happened here, despite the great chemistry between the cast members and despite the hilarious, baffling slow-burner performance of Daniel Craig.
Sadly the tagline "Hell, any of them could have done it" was also an intentional joke and not an invitation to a classic murder mystery. Johnson subverted expectations by subverting and NOT subverting them? Fucking hell.
