Fassbender’s acting is on another level. The anger and desperation in his performance is both menacing and heartbreaking, and everyone else (especially Mulligan, whom I’m normally indifferent about) are incredible.

And how about that getting-a-taste-at-the-bar scene? God damn.

bottom-tier Sorkin, which is still pretty good, but definitely forgettable.

everyone says The Cable Guy meets The Exorcist, which is fine, but I think Zero Charisma meets A Dark Song is much closer

the docudrama style increases the visceral tension and realism, making this just as rough as everyone says it is.

relentlessly bleak and fucking horrifying.

rewatched in my apocalypse class. this may have finally reached 5 star status, but my quirky, cross-eyed professor who thought Book of Eli was a great movie felt the need to lol and shout out every memorable line 10 seconds before they happened and really fucked up the experience.

gonna shorten the fuse on the rewatch timer and fully appreciate this again soon.

definitely not as good as the hype, but solid and approved regardless.

that last 3 seconds gets a 5/5 however, because thats exactly how you end a movie

half of this is great in utterly horrific & affecting ways, and the other half is absolute dogshit

a bit muddled and some characters come too close to caricature, but at least 1 out of every 4 bad days I have makes me think about watching this movie, so it certainly has some staying power

so much pure Lovecraftian adventure fun that any and all faults are completely forgiven. as close as it comes to the feeling of playing with toys as a kid.

cannot wait for Uprising to me let down
