Here's looking at you, kid.
I always wanted to watch this to celebrate hitting such a milestone, but I also thought the new Jackass was much more celebratory. So like the bisexual I am, I picked both.
After feeling pretty mixed after Citizen Kane and Pulp Fiction, and enjoying The Dark Knight and The Godfather nowhere near the level everyone else seems to, I was more than a bit hesitant about going into Casablanca. It has impossible standards to live up to, and I was worried it couldn't meet them. Then I actually watched it.
Would I say it's the greatest film ever? No, of course not. But I still would say it was absolutely phenomenal from beginning to end and deserves the praise it's known for getting. The acting is stunning, the writing is more than solid, and while it can definitely show its age, that oddly enough only seems to improve it.
