    Mission Impossible: Top Gun: Maverick.

Holy shit this movie! Such a blast to see in theaters. This is a filmmaking achievement on so many levels and contains one of the most insane, thrilling sequences I’ve ever seen.

Some of the imagery that they were able to capture was legit jaw dropping. Such an accomplishment. Joseph Kosinski was not fuckin around.

And Tom Cruise… Tom Fucking Cruise - a living legend, up in a league of his own. Easily one of…

How can a film so geared towards my taste and so all-consuming in its scale and style leave me feeling not only completely empty inside, but also so bored that I fell asleep?

My children have impeccable taste in film. It makes me so proud.

They were glued to this more than any loud and flashy animation they’ve seen in recent memory. They were so emotionally invested in the relationship and very concerned for E.T. In the end.

This is also a perfect film with a pretty simple story. I can hear all the stupid notes that would be given if this script was turned in now... And all those notes would be horribly wrong.

    One hell of an opener.

Krasinski handles tension so skillfully. Smart and simple use of the camera/blocking. It's all very effective.

Didn't have the emotional punch of the first, but definitely took the tension up a level.

Great cast, great pace, super tense, tons of fun.

This was insanely fun. Just crazy ridiculously fun. We’re talking a popcorn-fueled Saturday morning cartoon amount of fun.

Gorgeous VFX. Fast-paced. Great set pieces.

It knows what it is and leans into that. And I loved the clear influence of the big spectacle films we grew up watching - like Indepenence Day, JP, etc... Great nod to Jaws in there too.

I want to preface this review by emphasizing that I love Christopher Nolan. He's foundational for so many of us as film lovers, myself included, and I think the majority of his films are fantastic and even though I don't like TENET I will always defend him.

I was both optimistic and worried for this rewatch. On one hand I knew what to expect this time and on the other hand I've been seeing so many memes and clips on…

Features Nolan's best opening scene and that says a lot. The kind of cold, stark, apocalyptic spy thriller the 21st century deserves. While admittedly this one keeps us at arm's length from its characters it blows my mind that people don't see the humanity in Nolan's work.

Peak pretentious Film Student cinema. I just have to laugh at dudes telling people on here that they “didn’t get it” when they too flocked to “ending explained” articles. I geek thinking about how many bros were probably feeling some type of way during the fake deep philosophical conversations😭😭 Wish they’d stuck with the original ending, this film got too convoluted for its own good, but I will say it had quite the perspective on women.

Dark, dark, dark, and almost purposefully alienating. A great depiction of writer's block, distraction, the bloodsucking nature of "muse", the emptiness of art produced under capitalism, and the pretentiousness of working class tourism. Or, so I think! Who knows what da hell this movie's about!!

Tony Shalhoub and Michael Lerner are so fucking good. Writing do be like that sometimes!
