    I have some thoughts on the strudel scene, a masterclass in suspense. Underneath the dialogue, there is a subtext on display that binds the tension. It's all in the symbolism. The milk represents Shosanna's life on the farm before she fled France after her near-death experience with Colonel Hans Landa. At the farm, Hans asked for a refreshing glass of milk and chugged it.     I don't know if anyone else noticed, but there's a fly on Elio's shirt when he's looking at the fire at the end of the movie as it's snowing outside. If this is supposed to symbolize his memories of the summer with Oliver, as he would be visited by flies often when he was alone, that is pure cinematic brilliance.
