Oliver Welch’s review published on Letterboxd:
The visuals may be striking and the soundtrack hypnotic, but I find everything else about The Neon Demon abhorrent. The plot is incoherent, the premise is unclear, and none of the characters are remotely interesting or likable. This feels like one of Nicolas Winding Refn’s most extravagantly self-indulgent films. But, to gain more insight on what seemed like a shallow narrative, my perspective of the film changed rapidly after watching this video.
