an incredibly honest and human film. there's absolutely nothing sensational about Gummo, from its characters to its setting and all the events that take place on screen, everything is grimy, and desperate, and cruel, and oddly hilarious.
behind the repellent sounds and images in this film is something truly relatable, even beautiful. Gummo is a film that tempts you to look deeper beyond the cat slaughter and black metal to see a piss soaked testament to humanity itself.
do i think this is a perfect masterpiece? fuck no. but it's something truly authentic and unique,
