It's like James Wan remade a fake Garth Marenghi supernatural thriller, circa 2003. I didn't not hate it.

    Mike Bassett: England Manager

I swear to God people today complaining about Southgate are either too young to know that England were actually perennially shit and a laughing stock with thick louts for fans, or they just don't remember. Mike Bassett is the epitome of a time and place as a football fan in England where we thought we were world beaters but in reality, were clueless, toothless and just plain dogshit. Mike Bassett is funny, moving and a real time capsule. Anyone claiming Southgate Out should be forced into a time machine and made to suffer being an England fan from 99 through to 2017. Four, four, fucking, two.

I kind of thought it would be a mindless action film where Sly goes around killing the bad guys in the jungle with his machine gun and that's about it. Like Predator, I guess, just without the Predator.

I was wrong. It's excellent. I found it very entertaining, and also quite sad. Sure, Rambo is this bad-ass, super elite soldier who can kill a man practically by looking at him, but I never realised there was a subtext quite so…

Amazing. Thought the train was going to come right out of the screen at me. Loses points for not being in HD.
