“Me, I don’t talk much.” - Ed Crane

This is the type of film that makes me so happy the art form exists. Clearly a passion project from the Coen Brothers, The Man Who Wasn't There is a story where everything goes wrong. Scarface (1983) is the perfect classic gangster film. In my opinion, Al Pacino's performance in this movie has never been toped. A vain and psychopathic Cuban immigrant’s rise and fall in the criminal underworld makes for one of the best anti-heros in cinema.

    12 Angry Men

Wow, this is the most creative films I’ve seen in a while. Nearly the whole movie takes place in one room with twelve men on a jury that are angry due to their conflicting views on whether or not a minority teenager killed his father. There are so many shocking high points and some of the best acting and dialogue I’ve heard from the 50s. This is definitely a must-see film and I can’t believe I haven’t watched it until now.

Taking place in the 1920s during prohibition, Nucky Thompson (a corrupt county treasurer) attempts to get rich by bootlegging and selling illegal alcohol. But he soon finds prohibition to be the worst thing to ever happen to him. There are many tie ins with real gangsters…
