Your uncle Terry Who Lives In A Camper Van Behind Your House’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Okay ramblers, let's get rambling"
Man the first half of From Dusk till Dawn is so fucking good that I can't help but feel dissapointed when the vampires show up. The first half of this movie is a classic crime thriller with Tarantino's near perfect dialogue, a fun performance from Harvey Keitel, George Clooney (who seems to be born to deliver Tarantino dialogue) and even ol' quinty himself.
After that, it's a campy horror-action-comedy movie more in the style of Planet Terror (which I loved). It's not necessarily bad. Fred Williamson and Tom Savini are a blast to watch, and there's really creative ideas and neat set peices (especially the last shot, which is really fucking cool). The practical effects are cool, but are muddled whenever the goofy CGI shows up.
