I watch way too many movies
Leagues better than Harper, The Drowning Pool is an effective crime thriller. Harper is essentially "Ayyy it's the 1960s" for the entire runtime, and this sequel is nothing like that. The Drowning Pool isn't perfect, but it does improve upon most of my issues with Harper.
