Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Great performances all round, by Daniel Kaluyaa, Lakeith Stanfield and Jesse Plemmons, who’s character portrayals are all given time to explore.

The film is tense, gripping, and surprisingly unflinching. Lakeith may have been overdoing it a bit towards the end, but he gets some brilliant scenery to chew and Kaluyaa excels in his “i am a revolutionary” speech. The film is informative and gripping and provides a good dive into ideals of Fred Hampton and his work with the Black Panthers.

You can kill a revolutionary, but you can’t kill a revolution.
