Adam Lounsbery’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a solid follow-up to Part 3, but I wish they had just written Patricia Arquette's character out of the movie instead of replacing her with a distractingly different actress and then featuring her so prominently.
I remember when this came out. The trailers were all over TV and it felt like a huge event, along with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
I had seen my first slasher movie in the theater earlier in the year — Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood — but I couldn't find an adult to take me to see either Nightmare on Elm Street 4 or Halloween 4. I still have intensely nostalgic feelings for the autumn of 1988, talking about horror movies with my friends walking home from school.
