Scream

Scream ★★★★

So Scream helped ring in the next generation of horror movies to the mainstream, when it really needed it the most, and it's still the better of the horror movies that came out mainstream in the late 90's.
Great to see Wes Craven go back to the genre he does so well.
It had a great cast with Matthew Lillard as a stand out, though the rest, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Jamie Kennedy and Rose McGowan were all very good in their roles.
It plays out as a sort of spoof of horror movies but still holding true with lots of violence and scares.
It has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek with all the comedy that is in it and the rules to surviving a horror movie were pretty cool.
May be the best thing Kevin Williamson has written.
And for once the ending was actually fairly surprising.
