“You can murder a freedom fighter, but you can’t murder freedom!”
I’ve seen a lot of hype about Judas and the Black Messiah being the Best Picture winner this year. I can say after watching this that I don’t think it’s up to that standard. LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya had both fantastic performances individually. The look of this film was really good. But there’s another side to the coin, the story just pull me in. Both of our leads never really shared the screen and they both had their own stuff going on apart from each other. The real life story after watching this film was more interesting than the movie itself. While there were some captivating scenes, it wasn’t that way the whole way through. Overall, the performances carried this film and there will be some nominees from this, the story is lacking significantly behind.
