Blade Runner

Blade Runner ★★★★★

Los Angeles as a claustrophobic, tightly constructed neon-lit battleground for man and replicant. Artificiality grasping at some semblance of humanity. Ridley Scott's masterpiece is a thematic goldmine, but what I am always left with is Roy. A synthetic by design, desperate to live, to feel, to yearn. A brilliant character played by a brilliant actor. Deckard is almost a secondary player here. This is a film I had to learn to love. Its slow, methodical pace was off-putting on my first viewings, but over time I've truly grown to appreciate what a decadent and desolate science fiction ballad of humanity this is. Rain.
