that scene with jhong and mercedes had me SHOOK and clapping this was such an amazing commentary on the sad truth of our election system. i just hope that whoever watches this realizes that it's not mang ponso, lando, or even lani who's at fault here—it's the god-forsaken trapo who keeps letting the masses do their dirty work.

p.s. one thing i didn't like about this was the use of music, some scenes were toooo dramatic.

I thought Mitani could never top McDonald, but this 2008 film of his just proved me wrong. A fun fact about me: one of my favorite genres of movies is metacinema, and Mitani perfected that here in my opinion. We get to have three perspectives in the movie which was a treat when we, the audience, are the only ones omniscient about their hilarious situation. I also appreciate the clip shown in the credits that put the spotlight on the…

a modern-day tragedy. iconic casting and astounding direction of jsa catapulted pcw to acclaim. also loved the fact that a south korean president gave a copy of this film to jong-un.

first brillante mendoza film and... it was okay i guess. never knew there were actual p*rn theaters in our country. favorite scene was when the lights were opened in the cinema and a spot-on depiction of man was revealed in the audience: sexual, dirty animals hiding in the dark.

had such a fun time watching this one! although i have to admit the last hour had me tempted to pull a 2x speed but i endured it for that iconic and wholesome ending. really loved the way the three characters' stories were interwoven.

watching this, i was already aware that it drew its plot from make way for tomorrow, a film that had me quite emotional so i knew this would be an onion-cutting session as well. if you were to ask me, this hit harder since i myself am an asian who only has one living grandparent. i can just recall the many times we've opted not to visit our grandparents since we're busy with other stuff. this is like a hard…

a fun fact about me: one of my fav bway musicals (although i've only seen a handful... of b**tlegs) is rent and this felt a lot like that, so sexual and so human. and like many other people have said already, how can a film about sex also be more than that? shortbus is a phenomenal modern feat, a multilayered erotic slice of life where you can see yourself in at least one of the characters. could easily consider this as a comfort film but probably would rewatch it some other time...

the movie title is EVERYTHING i mean what can be more erotic and exemplary of sensual cinema than having sex with someone who can send you to die??? oh and can i just say i hate how tang wei was punished to all sorts of ostracism and insults because of her role in this when she ate it up

p.s. tony leung hot i know that's my dilf

Thank God I played Ghost of Tsushima on the PS. This game actually made me kickstart my Kurosawa marathon again.

Before seeing this masterpiece, I've only seen Rashomon and Seven Samurai, both of which I pegged as okay but did not strike me as a favorite. But this one is a gem. I tackled Japanese theater in a reporting I did back in 8th grade so seeing how Kurosawa managed to literally transport the setting of the Shakespearean tragedy to…

there's a commentary on how society perceives penises as a man's literal "manhood" somewhere in this film... oh it's actually obvious...
