Quite simply one of the best scripts I've seen - indescribably clever, funny, melancholic, any other words one can use to describe a good noir script. One of the best casts too, I can't imagine anyone but Mitchum and Douglas in these roles. My main problem is the unnecessary kinda rough romance side plot and seemingly unmemorability.
