Noah Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
Pleasantly surprised by this one. From this first trailer, I was expecting this to be one of the worst MCU movies for sure. Like I thought it would be genuinely awful. Miraculously, this ended up being one of my favorite things from this universe at all. It’s probably one of the five best solo movies in this entire franchise, and Tony Leung is easily one of the best villains. I definitely tuned out a little in the third act, as is a common trend with me and final battle sequences, but for the most part, this had some of the best action in the entire MCU. Some of these fights are brilliantly choreographed and are shot in a very involving and easy-to-understand way. Sometimes I get lost in what’s going on with these action scenes because the editing is too quick to even comprehend, but this movie makes sure you are processing it all. It’s really a simple thing, but so many of these movies fail to do it. I hope Shang-Chi is featured prominently because I really enjoy the character. He is just very earnest and endlessly likable. Really enjoyed this movie.
