Wilder’s narratives are always so strong and engaging, and yet each one is doing something completely different from all the others. Like the reasons I love this are completely different from the ones that make me love movies like Some Like it Hot  or Stalag 17. I’m not sure this one is up there with my favorite Wilder pictures if only just because my emotional connection isn’t as deep as some of the others, but filmically speaking this is nearly perfect.
