Man, Brie Larson is such a pretty lady.
Every time she was on scream I unconsciously screamed an OOF.
Ok, now that everyone knows I have a 12 year old brain, time for the actual review.
This movie was entertaining and a fun time. That's all I wanted and expected and that's what I got. Me Happy.
This is FAR from a great movie but was surprised how fun it was and how it reminded me of the movie's of my youth (The late 90's). Movie's I would watch back then, movies that were definitely not perfect but they were cheesy, fun blockbusters.
Now, the script...there's no way around it, it's pretty bland. A good chunk of the great actors they have in this movie are embarrassingly wasted (looking at you Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston). John C. Reilly is far and beyond the best part of this movie. He is funny, charismatic, his story is the only one in the movie that is engaging and you can get behind AND his performance is surprisingly touching in a few places. Makes you wonder why he wasn't the main character in this. Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly are the only ones to elevate the material and give entertaining performances.
Kong and the creatures are cool, more could have been done with them but what we got was creative and fun. The fights are some of the highlights of the movie and Kong has more of a "character" and presence than Godzilla ever did in his 2014 outing.
Overall fun time, I got Sam Jackson V. Kong: Dawn of Justice, who can ask for anything more!
