Man, I forgot just how stylish this really is. There are multiple shots that I watched and literally mouthed "fucking awesome", despite having already seen this.
I loved this world that was created. The world-building here was fantastic. These creatures and the history of Kong's family and shit, it was all cool.
Now just as last time, my issues come down to the writing. Particularly how unfleshed a lot of these characters are. The majority of the admittedly fantastic cast have literally no character to them. I'd say the only ones that really do are John C. Reilly and Samuel L. Jackson, although the latter still doesn't get dug into too deeply. I'd have loved to seen this cast cut in half and gotten some real character development.
At the end of the day though, the humans aren't the main attraction, Kong is, and he is magnificent. Whenever he is on the screen, I couldn't look away. It was great.
Still don't know how they're gonna tackle Kong vs Godzilla next year but I swear if Kong says Martha, I'll lose my shit!
