Though it’s not as conventially entertaining as his previous two films, this is by far Poole’s most dense & thematically riching movie to date. One that im gonna be thinking about for awhile.
As someone who loves both The Force Awakens & The Last Jedi, and has defended them both numerous times, shocked by how disappointed I was with this. There is some good & emotional stuff in here, but it’s paced so unbelievably fast that moments don’t hit the way they should. The worst part of it all is that its very clear that JJ, Kathleen, & Disney were terrified of the backlash that the Last Jedi received for actually daring to try & do something…
Peacemaker, King Shark, & Ratcatcher 2 all Co-MVPs.
Not as funny as I was expecting, but makes up for it entirely with its extreme charm & heart. Gunn is the
Master of taking an ensemble cast & fleshing them all out enough to understand & care for them. It’s also clear he’s significantly improved at directing action, as I’ve always felt that was the weakest part of his films.
