if someone were to ask me if there was a single film that has changed my life, i would say cléo from 5 to 7. before i watched cléo, i didn't watch old films, or foreign films, or anything of the sort. when i first watched this, i was in awe, and it introduced me to a whole new world of cinema that i didn't even know existed. but, most importantly, it also introduced me to my hero: agnès. the…

the type of film where you don't realize how perfect it is until the end, when all the emotions crash into you and you realize you've witnessed something special. lee isaac chung takes you by the hand and slowly weaves you into this family, until you feel as if you are one of them. you laugh beside them like you're sitting right there playing cards with your grandma. you feel the love they have for one another, even in the…

this film is brilliant. it's flawless. it strikes a chord with me for many different reasons. but, after second viewing, i realized a certain way i related to this film and found catharsis within it that i didn't notice before. perhaps because i didn't even truly know myself when i first watched this film.

"everything is confused again, as it was before. but the confusion is... me.…

do you ever watch a movie so beautiful that you forget to read the subtitles because you're so distracted by everything else? that was me watching this film. fellini's first color film doesn't hold back, with bright pastels and deep reds soaking up every inch of the screen. it's a visual feast. it reminded me of agnès varda's le bonheur: films about infidelity masked in vibrant pops of color and beautiful scenery. surrealism acts as a contrasting force to the…

(i'm sorry this review is so long i had a lot of thoughts)

hmm. don't really know how to rate this. i enjoyed parts of it for sure, but this film is very flawed. very, very flawed - both on a thematic and filmmaking level.

it's a complex film for sure, and i'm glad films about rape culture in this manner are finally being made. portrayals of "nice guys" as some of the most evil, manipulative predators have finally been…
