Initial thoughts can be found here. New favourite moment was the smash-cut to The Sovereign floating in their pods as "Wham-Bam Shang-A-Lang" plays. Unexpectedly inspired, with awesome feels. As for the rest, I basically felt the same—immensely entertaining, mostly amusing, but restricted by the litheness of the first. (Just a bit of lag in a sequel that runs for 136 minutes.) And holy shit, I'd love to migrate to Contraxia in all its neon, seedy glory. I don't mind how Vol. 2 is more visually sugared-up in comparison to its predecessor, as it fits in with the swashbuckling playfulness. James Gunn is the right, euphoric fit to these movies.
