Godzilla vs. Kong

Godzilla vs. Kong

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

- love when they do the fake newsreel credits in these movies with Godzilla hieroglyphs & words like “earth = hollow?” on a whiteboard
- King Kong reminds me a lot of Porco Rosso, Porco should fly his plane to skull island & visit
- Brian Tyree Henry officially at “oh nice, he’s in this” levels
- this whole conflict could’ve been avoided if they let coach taylor sit all the titans down & let em know what’s what
- I like that this movie clearly knows that it’s a movie about a giant ape & a giant lizard fighting
- few things as satisfying as watching a fighter jet get swatted out of the sky by Godzilla’s tail
- Kong’s fur looks really good in this, good job to the vfx people in charge of that
- Godzilla fighting King Kong on top of an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean can look like the simpson’s monkey knife fight & really cool at the same time
- genuine lol at godzilla giving kong the stink eye
- all the hollow earth stuff is real and actually happened to my uncle
- journey to the center of the earth sequences are always fun even if they more or less always look the same
- what is it about a smaller person piloting a much larger person? it’s fucking cool but feels slightly freudian? idk someone smart look into that though
- lance reddick is like an insanely reliable middle reliever. you know he’s always ready to retire two & a third in the bottom of the 6th
- glad we have moved from very serious godzilla to magic monkey axe, it’s just more fun for the whole family
- every time there is excessive camera shake I like to think it was just the cameraman jiggling around
- seems like a no brainer for legendary to crossover pacific rim now too, right? why not
- a random extra getting savagely killed by a cgi monster will always be funny
- good on skarsgård for embracing how goofy all of this is in an earnest way instead of being a smug wisecracker
- I really like when they are both yelling at each other like two dudes fighting over a parking spot in southie
- I bet the third act looks great in imax, but had a hard time keeping track of everything on my tv lol
- the pirating movies line got a solid chuckle
- Godzilla & Kong teaming up is actually a metaphor for when vincent gigante & anthony casso put their differences aside & agreed to murder john gotti with a car bomb
- much respect for keeping this under two hours
